Nepean Volunteer Support Program

Nepean Volunteer Support Program is funded by the Department of Health and the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP).  Our program is dedicated to supporting volunteers involved in the Aged care sector.
An essential part of our program is to provide key information and training support for volunteers by conducting Information sessions.  Our sessions are conducted by expert speakers and are free for volunteers from Not For Profit community organisations throughout the Penrith, Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury areas.
We provide training support to volunteers on a range of topics, including:
  • Effective communication techniques
  • Reablement and wellness
  • Awareness of boundaries in a volunteering role
  • Coping strategies for grief and loss
  • Self-care and wellbeing
  • Understanding dementia
  • Supporting people with low vision & hearing impairment
We also hold regular 'Social Morning Cuppa' events for our volunteers, which provide an invaluable opportunity for social engagement, support and supervision.  Our volunteers take the opportunity to share and learn from each other's volunteering experiences and address any challenges with our coordinators.
We strive to deliver information of both interest and benefit to meet the needs of our volunteers. We collaborate with our partner organisations working in Aged Care, to support their volunteers in their valuable work to assist seniors in our community.
